In an exciting return to the original WiM format, (not seen since WiM 2000) in 2010 we will form one fantastic choir instead of two with everyone contributing to what is certain to be a massive sound. The week will be structured around sectional rehearsals (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) and full-choir rehearsals, so there will be plenty of time to learn the full programme for the concert on the Saturday evening.
Splinter groups:
The splinter groups available this year are:
- Band: Musicians will be allocated parts to play for the WiM concert, and will rehearse during the week. Every effort will be made to accommodate instrumentalists of all standards.
- Dance: The Dance Co will faciliate the cheoreography, rehearsal and performance of a dance loosley based around the theme of the week.
- Drama: The Drama Co will oversee the creative process behind developing a piece of drama foer performance in the concert, loosely based around the theme of the week.
Sign Language: Revvers opting for this will learn and perform songs in Sign Language, assisted by the Sign Language Co.
Production: Those interested in all aspects of production of the concert will be given a variety of opportunities to contribute, overseen by the Production and Media Cos.
- Concert Dec: Supported by the Concert Dec Co, members can opt to plan and create suitable decorations for the concert venue in keeping with the theme of the week.
Where?
The destination for WiM 2010 is Aberdeen, following a successful bid made by members of the Aberdeen choir in 2009. The venue is the Inchgarth Community Centre, Aboyne Place, Aberdeen, and there are a variety of fantastic resources and materials available to everyone who attends. In addition to the packed programme designed by the WiM Team, there will be plenty time to relax and socialise with a pool hall, Wifi, a gym, tennis courts and a football pitch. Showers will be available at the local sport and leisure centre, and a variety of shops can be found within a 5 minute walk.
During the week there will be a variety of social activites, potentially including trip to His Majesty’s Theatre in the centre of Aberdeen to see Connie Fisher in The Sound of Music, as well as a night to hit the tiles, and a meal out. (Additional charges apply; alternative social activities will always be available) The venue is fully accessible for those with disabilities, and Revelation will cater for dietary requirements providing these are disclosed prior to the event. First-Aiders will be available at all times and locked rooms will be provided for storage of valuable items.
The cost of WiM 2010 is £55 and this includes accommodation from Saturday 3rd April until Sunday 11th April, all meals, the Gospel workshop, and a T-Shirt for the concert. Please see the Sign Up Form for further details on additional costs.
